The Green woodpecker is a striking resident of the UK and much of Europe. The combination of green and yellow plumage, red crown and black moustache makes this bird easy to identify, if not easy to spot. This woodpecker brooch is created from many layers of fabrics that are embroidered and painted to create a three-dimensional effect. The reverse is backed with soft felt and the edges are sealed so that the fabric does not fray.
